I think Iam ready to dive into building the Palm Beach, so Iwas looking at the study plans and it states that the construction type is batten seam construction, Iwould like to construct the boat using cold mold techniques. I believe when H built his a few years ago he constructed the frames then bent plywood over the frames with a layer of 3/16" mahogany over the plywood. I do not recall the total thickness, but I believe I have acopy of that thread somewhere with the details. Does this sound like the right way to construct this boat , Iam looking for less maintenace then batten seam.
Thanks Darren

Years ago the boatbuilding class at the Landing School built one of those boats and they may have done it in epoxied veneers. It would be worth checking with them at any rate. www.landingschool.edu

My Biscayne 22 has 3 layers on the sides of 2 x 1/8" ply, and 1 x 1/8" mahogany for a total of 3/8". The bottom is 1/2" total thickness with an extra layer of 1/8" ply.
It would be a lot less maint (near zero) than batten seam. The only think I'm not sure about is if the underlying structure of the Palm Beach is similar to the boats designed to be cold molded. But it obviously works.
Good luck
