It's Tuesday now on the Coromandel Peninsula (NZ), in Hobart Town (OZ), and in Hong Kong.. so there is a new posting.
We're getting a TON of readers, but few posters. Have you Forumites nothing to say? How unusual.
Read it here: www.WoodenBoat.com/boat.
And, hopefully, next week we'll learn of progress by Chris and the CABRILLO. If not, another screed from me (I have many).
Thanks, Carl

Hi Carl.
Sorry you are feeling lonely. The building jig for my glued lapstrake Townson 2.4 dinghy is progressing nicely. I'm following the Tom Hill method, but there seem to be a few pitfalls in it, like ;if the ribbands don't go to the stem, or a false stem of some sort, surely they won't lay fair? Any advise I can get on this project will be appreciated.

When I built a glued lapstrake recently, I ran the ribbands all way to the stem, or rather, landed them just behind the stem. Another simpler way would be to use an external temporary ribband to fair this part of the strake. Clamp with homemade plywood "C" clamps and wedges. Some use this method instead of internal ribbands on the mold for all strakes. Works fine. I did it the other way because I was lining off the strakes without patterns for them.

I suspect the reason tha we Forumites haven't made as many comments as you would expect is due to your exalted position as Publisher...we Forumites tend to antagonize each other (especially down in the Bilge), but antagonizing you could bring about severe and dire consequences!!!:eek:

You're new here, aren't you?:rolleyes::D
If its responses your after, stick with the tried-and-true, guns, evolution, politics, abortion, etc. Or, post a thread about what you had for breakfast.
A serious boat thread might get a hundred or two hundred to one, view/response ratio. Unless, of course, you keep changing the name of the boat. In that case, the ratio will show a marked improvement, but, unfortunately, not the content. A cheap ploy, sure, but it works for me.:D

Jim, you cynic, you forgot conspiracy threads!
The Footy sounds interesting, I think I will have to look into that.
