So w/ the economy on the fritz the Washington Post did an article on how it's affecting one family. Ashburn (aka A$$burn) VA is not too far away from me. One of those scary places where every street looks the same and people live like this...

The twice-a-month maid service was the first thing to go. The couple also consolidated their credit cards into one monthly bill.

Instead of buying whatever she wants, Stacey now asks herself if she really needs the item; often, the answer is no.

Michael: And hosting a dinner party -- that would cost $300 to $400. An $80 roast, wine, flowers -- all in, it was three to four hundred.

In February, instead of paying someone $1,500 to paint the inside of their house, Stacey and Michael spent $200 on paint and did it themselves.

Gee, all those cost saving things are pretty much the way I've always lived, not just when times were hard.

The really bothersome thing is there are LOTS of average people, okay, maybe not average for the country, but people who aren't rich in the traditional sense of the world and they live like they are rich. Bills finally came due.:p

and then there lots of other people who cant afford the 200$ in the good times who dont even show up on radar.
