Hello all,
A couple of forumites in another post have made mention about our progress...
Unfortunately we havn't been too good with the photo taking lately as we have been busy and not really wanting to stop and take photos (even for the few minutes it takes!!!)
Anyhow some photos are in the camera...we don't have the luxury of instant shots and the versatility of a digital camera but will post the photos as soon as they come to hand.
We are still working away to get completed and now the expected launch date has been put back again until in the early part of next year.
This boat is such a big project for the three of us and it is consuming a lot of energy, and money of course, and now that it is coming towards the end it is all starting to take a toll on everything.
But anyhow, enough of the miseries!!!!!!
The chain plates are now on, the fit out in the galley with stove and sink to port is almost complete. This leaves just the fridge/freezer and chart table to stb and then fit out below and behind the companionway across the engine and dive compressor. The main cabin has had a couple coats of varnish to seal and protect the timber...it really looks beautiful. The fwd compatment is now getting the panelling put back in place finally as the chain plates are now through bolted. We will be fitting a couple of knees to the deck beams in way of the foremast. We have laminated knees for the main cabin beams ready to fit. The paperwork and application the the Australian Ships Registration office has been sent with a hefty $799 for the go ahead in using the chosen boat name and as soon as it is approved, we will be able to carve the name and home port into the hull and finish painting the hull. David has to plumb and wire the boat but as we like things simple, the task will be neither too difficlt or take too long.
The shower/head compartment is ready for a final coat of paint when all the major work is out of the way. The stove alcove has been glassed and the water tanks under the settees are being glassed at the moment.
We are off to Brisbane on Sunday to pick up our sails and the fridge compressor. So that is another step forward!
We are very pleased with everything (how the boat has come together)and this time next year I'm sure we will be afloat!!!!

Bernadette.

Thanks for the update.

It is like waiting for the birth of a relative's baby.

Hope to see the boat and crew in Brisbane one day.

Sounds like you're really on the home stretch. I wish I could be there for the launching. Don't forget a photo as she feels the water. All the best, Clint.
