As some of you may know, my Doug Hylan Beach Pea was destroyed by a falling oak tree some years ago.http://lh3.ggpht.com/_SHBgt6toQvQ/R6JSS3_FNjI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/rZgW93h0OGA/is_00097.jpg
Inspired by Doug's wonderful design and The Expectant Father's Cradle Boat Book by Peter Spectre and Buckley Smith, I just finished a Beach Pea Baby Cradle for my new grandson Owen James Fyfe.

She's built with 1/4" mahogany ply and doug fir. The rockers are ash. The picture above was taken at the Brewster Flats this afternoon, the same place I used to use the original boat.

Maggie and Fiona can give you an idea of the scale. It's pretty big for a cradle, but it'll also make a great place to store stuffed animals.

All in all, a real fun project that took me nine weeks of occasional evening work.
