My manager called me up this morning. My team is based in Texas but I live here in god's country. I was told some people are being let go but I am not one of them.

I feel relief, then guilt and remorse for those let go. I don't know who (HR rules forbids this) but I will know by the absences.

I narrowly averted being laid off in the dot com bust. I hope I can keep up the Houdini act.

A bittersweet congrats.

A year or so ago, one of our Memphis-based members expressed some interest in moving to your area and looking for work.

Can you tell us what line of work you're in and who you work for and what's going on?

A lot of companies are laying off the old people and hiring new people.

Sorry to hear your news, Charlie.

There's not a day goes by I'm not thankful for my job, picked up two weeks after Useless Airways ousted me. We're busy as hell, just added a new contract and several strong potential contracts in the near future.

I've been very lucky.

Dodged that bullet myself today.

I got into work this morning and was greeted by a firm handshake & "It's been nice knowing you" from the Site Super. (there's only two of us).

Had to wait eight hours before I was called in, to be told that my job was safe. "Within the confines of the current economic situation......yada,yada.."

Guess I'm not the total f%$k up y'all think I am....:)

It's a tough world out there, Mr Gray. My sympathies.

May the luck continue Dave, and sorry to hear about your situation Charlie Cobra. I'm getting used to being out of work, in some ways it's handy with all that's going on in our lives but I'll get bored in the long run I expect even with the new house going up, boats and all. I trickle of income would be handy too, just to pay the petrol and coffee bill!
