I'm very sorry. They are part of the family, and it looks like Tac shared more than a few adventures with you along the way.

Sorry Hugh.
When it's time, it's time. We get the enormous pleasure of sharing those 20 years, being able to show off how beautiful our companion was in youth and how dignified in old age, and how tender in death.
Tac gave you all the gamut. How wonderful that you had the skills and equipment to enclose that last tenderness in a traditional vessel.

So sorry about the passing of your friend. 20 years is a very long run for a cat, but it makes it that much harder. Remember the good times.

Sorry Hugh.
Nice pictures. The eight-sided is a lovely and fitting tribute.

Hugh,
A feline companion is a fine and mysterious thing. Hope he fares well on his voyage onward.

Cats choose to be our companions instead of just a pet...and a loved feline is part of the family so best wishes and fair winds and sea as time goes by.

This is the vessel that was her home for a year.

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes. An end of an era, really. Living with a shipmate inevitably reminds one of the ship, and the intense life that was.
OTOH, there seems to be an interest in 8-sided coffins. Go figure. one door closes...

Hugh,
I'm very sorry. I can completely understand the sense of loss. My Gizmo was only 17 when she fell asleep in one of her favorite spots last Sunday evening and didn't wake up.:(

Katherine,
Sorry to hear your catfriend has left you. Not waking up is the best way to go, I think. I sure didn't relish taking ours to the vet, when she would still enjoy a scratch behind the ears. Best to let them make their own decisions, as long as it's humane.
