While searching this week for a new boat (see "boat sank") I found IBIS, a 70 foot Trumpy/Mathis that needs saving. She is on her way to landfill soon.
IBIS is looking sad and will take a massive effort to save her, but she is worthy and "doable"

She is a beautiful boat. Why is she in such sad shape? Do you have a current photo? Where is she? And what is the owners intent? I think if you can link people to more information there is a good chance someone might save her. Thanks for posting the photo. IBIS is a beauty in this photo!
Anything we can do individually to create more wooden boats or save more wooden boats is the best goal we can have. Good luck finding your new boat.

The Ibis sailed into her last port (West Palm Beach, FL) on her own bottom some two years ago where she was then hauled by her owner ( the yard owns her now) he proceeded to try and get funding for a restoration project and did not try and preserve her while doing so. She has extensive iron sickness and some worm damage. She was built of long leaf yellow pine (frames too) and has less rot than I would have expected below the waterline. She needs to be completely refastened. Her stem is a candidate for Smith & Co. Restoration process. She needs about 40 planks in her bottom and half a dozen frames sistered or renewed . The topsides are soft around the windows. The deck (fiberglass over) is surprisingly sound. The house on top is in very good condition. The interior is restorable with little work. She has late model IZUZU engines and a 10kw genset. Engines are aft with Tunnel Drive. Lots of room on this boat. Beam about 17 feet draft of about 4.5 The attached link is from the previous owner. Beware of pop ups when launching his site. ibis link (http://www.geocities.com/randyguthrie/ibis.html) I shot 3 rolls of 35 mm film, 40 digital pics and 7 min of video of her. I will post the pics on my website as they are available. I do not know how to post the video.
Regards to all

Margo? Dave? How much room do you have left in your back yard?

Ken, that is not even funny
If we had more money than sense, we could run around restoring Trumpys. There are quite a number of them around here. Maybe Florida is where they come to die :( (There are also some nice ones that winter here.)
If I had time to go back through the video archives, I've got some really sad shots of one that sank at the dock in Green Cove when the worms quit holding hands... and then there's the one that sank in the river just off of us before they could get it on the rail next door ...
So many wooden boats, so few that get saved...
