Feb 6 that is. On that day in 1945 the son of an 18 year old black girl and a 50 year old white Captain was born and Robert Nesta Marley was brought into the world.

How do you plan on celebrating this momentous occasion? Here are a few ideas.

Take a trip to your local library to do some reading about the man revered by Bob Marley and all other Rastafarians: Haile Selassie, former Emperor of Ethiopia.

Book a trip to the Caribbean paradise of Jamaica, Marley's home and birthplace.

Play Bob's debut release track, "Judge Not (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4K6Htmw1xE)," as a tribute to the beginning of his prosperous and uplifting career.

Take a stab at reading the palms of your friends and family. Prior to becoming a singer and musician, Marley was a well-known local palm reader.

Purchase hemp-manufactured clothing in celebration of the herb that inspired Bob throughout his life.

Pop open a Red Stripe, Jamaica's favorite beer, in tribute to Marley's homeland.

You're missing the most obvious idea, of course :D

P.S. And Haile Selassie, of course, wasn't a Rastafarian...

Well, ways to celebrate without breaking the law. ;)

I don't know much about Halie Selessie except what I find online.

the Rastafarian movement perceives Haile Selassie as a messianic figure who will lead the peoples of Africa and the African diaspora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_diaspora) to a golden age of peace, righteousness, and prosperity
