I'm thinking of laying a deck over my current plywood decak and I have some Atlantic white cedar. It's good for planking, but has anybody ever used it for decking? I'm not married to the idea I just have some available for free.

Atlantic white cedar is pretty soft for decking.

It is used for laid decks once in a while around here.

but it does wear quick.

Sounds like a nice score Joe, maybe you could save it for a more appropriate project or "horse trade" it to someone for a more suitable decking material?

Teak. Teak. Teak. I know, it's costly, but it's worth it. It's stable, wears well, and looks great if you leave it natural and keep it clean.
