Is ebay the best place to sell old tools? I've heard some complaints about their policies, and aggressive fees.

what other auction sites should I look into for selling tools?

I find that Craigs list is the absolute worse possible place to sell things....too many scam artists jumping in almost instantly....E-bay will take eventually have what the selling price is with all the fee's and processing the payments etc...not really worth it. I came out far away ahead by going to specialized links like Gunbroker with firearms, the scuba site for the dive gear and underwater camera stuff and some knife sites for the excess edged artillery......most of the tools I have passed on, as with the books and am doing with blueprints.

Never sell tools! If you really don't need them then either give them to a needy relative or keep them in reserve.
If you absolutely have to sell tools(I can't imagine why) then some of the woodworking forums have classified sections. You should be able to get what the tool is worth there.
But don't sell them!
