The wooden cap rail sits flush on a steel plate. I don't have the necessary time to pull the wooden cap rail up. It has been lifted about a half inch most likely by rust along a two-foot strip (in an area that cannot be readily reached when the boat is in the water). Next year the cap rail can be pulled.

In the meantine, what can I use as a sealer? I don't want to put anything in like 5200 that would be very difficult to remove a year from now.

Thanks.

Hi Pat
Reef out all the loose material and apply a good rust inhibitor then calk with Dolphinite, Short term fix but should get you to Spring
Good Luck

a) Ospho to 'convert/slow' the the rust.
b) Penetrol to semi seal the the moisture out after conversion.
