Fired up the Jet 12" tablesaw last night, with the intention of ripping some 3/4 oak planks. But its power seemed greatly reduced. I had the blade fully elevated- and thought well maybe I had too much drag on the blade- so I reduced- or tried to reduce its elevation above the table. It resisted my attempts to crank the blade down. A little investigation showed the entire base of the saw impacted with sawdust. The dust chute was completely packed - and its hooked up to a powerful blower. The reason for the lack of power was that one of the two v belts had slipped off- a consequence of the motor being fully supported by impacted sawdust instead of tensioning the belts properly. Jeez- why I didn't have a fire or burn up the motor- I'll never know. But, its a good lesson. I'll inspect it regularily from now on. I guess something like a table saw works so well- you tend to take it for granted. Be advised.

say no more say no more, wink wink. sounds like your 'tablesaw' (hehe) could use more bran. and i bet your 'tablesaw' problem came from eating too much cheese.

for you's guys with an old 'drill' that got no 'torque' try using it more often. don't go a ride'n it hard and put'n it away wet neither, unless you want yor ball bearing to seize. and if you get your bit stuck, back it out slowly man. and remeber even them little japanese jobs can give long service if handled properly.

here's to happy tools..
