Well, yesterday was the day.

My latest boat family member, being readied for birth by Dr. Ken Hutchins:

She's now up in Brooklin, Maine, sitting next to a bunch of Haven 12s in Eric's side yard. Hopefully I'll have some in-the-water photos soon.

Does Dr. Ken have a license for that chain saw?? Well, I've got my son's license does that count? :D He has one from the US Forest Service he doesn't use anymore. smile.gif When he moved down under he got another license from Queensland. smile.gif

Congratulations. A 12 1/2 in Brooklin - doesn't get much better than that. Hope you have a great season.

Special thanks to:

Dr. Ken

Eleanor, for consenting to award me custody of Gringolet

Mike at Triad trailers for getting the carriage ready

Steve Nagy, Bill Cooper, Weatherly Doris, and others who were supportive and helpful in the unsuccessful search for Gringolet's pre-hurricane history.

OK. The report is in. She needs the gunk pulled out of her seams, some refastening, replacement of the forward bulkhead, removal of but blocks and replacement with shorter blocks, recaulking, and then varnishing/painting.

It will be a busy June. I'll post photos of the progress.

UPDATE

Ken was right. A couple of days of Maine weather and a few sprinkles and she took right up. The bad news is that now the gunk will be that much tougher to get out of the seams.

Lessons learned. Pull out the junk in New Hampshire.
