When departing Bonifacio late in the day, the wind here is often was just off the starboard bow. We would set the fore-staysail, keep the stern line attached and pivot around with the end of the bowsprit swinging over dry land on the other side of the harbor!

I hate not being able to correct typos on the subject line. It is Bonifacio - not Bonafacio.

I was working on the boat and was there three times in September and October - twice on an overnight and once for a day visit. The Bonifacio Strait separates Corsica and Sardegna.
In my opinon, it's the most impressive port on either of the islands.

Lovely pix, I was there in 1969, on the Sardinian side. As there were no decent shops near us, we used to hop over to Corsica for supplies. Our ski/runabout had a Homelite 55hp 4-stroke 4 cyl. outboard. First (and last) one I saw. Son in law of the owner of the property had skied across the Straits and into the harbour, ended up in the slammer for a bit for exceeding the speed limit. Also there were several boats impounded for smuggling, one with a large hole in the bow. I asked about it-- "He ignored the warning shot".

The boat, launched in 1931, belonged to EF Hutton and Marjorie Post. She took the boat after they divorced.
Some wonderful photos, thanks.

Fantastic. I'm very envious!
Thought I'd bump this since Pat is logged on. Are you still on Sea Cloud Pat?
