When went up into downtown San Antone last nite
for the big shin dig at The Tower Of The Nations.

Had dinner and walked the river walk for a couple hrs.

I had a flask of brandy and Donna drank a few wines
          but we both behaved ourselves.

Had a pleasant and quiet evening with a couple of friends. Wife and I drove a back road 20 miles to their ranch outside Cranfils Gap, TX.
Rode with them to Meridian, Tx and had a great steak dinner and Cabernet at Cactus Grill. Back to their place.
Turned on TV at 11 our time, midnight in New York, and watched the show there, hosted by the corpse of Dick Clark.
Back home and asleep by midnight. Those wild new years parties of my youth seem a distant dream in somebody else's body.

We were browbeaten into going over to a friend's house, where we had a good time. Sarabelle had slightly too many cosmopolitans and I drove us home around 10:00. We'd been away much of the day, and when you heat with wood that means you aren't heating at all. The house was cold, but I got fires lit and stayed up until 11:30 stoking them, trimming my beard a little, and wandering about with the IR camera. A good temperature differential really makes things stand out.

We watched movies in an attempt to make it to midnight but without success. No alcohol was consumed. Feeling quite chipper this morning, actually.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

Celebrated 21 years sober the night before at my favorite group and had a ball at describing how good it's all been. Kinda forget after time the misery.

I'm knowing that when I go back to drinking it'll be about enhancing the celebrating so last night was just another night with a few friends and some good food and a careful drive home through the Old Port to see all the folks standing outside the crammed barroom doors, freezing their asses off and hankering to toss a couple back.
                        Amature night.

We're all quite pious aren't we.

Personally, I've got coffee and a hair of the dog.

So would you all stop shouting, please?

We had a couple beers, and the obligatory champaigne at midnight. Feeling just fine, with some Carolans in my coffee.
