Hello
I have just applied CPES to my boat and I was wondering if anyone had used Interlux surfacing putty over CPES.The direction say to use over bare wood and the tech line said not to use it over an epoxy coating. Also is seam compound the best thing to use under the keel or should I use 5200?
Thanks

Regarding the putty, it sounds as though Interlux already answered you. I'm sure they'd know better than anyone here. Epoxy/microballoons works pretty well over epoxy.

As for the 5200, I don't know. What do you mean by "under the keel"? If you mean as a bedding compound, there are probably better choices. I do know that you don't put 5200 on anything you (or someone else) might want or need to take apart later.

Never use 5200 for seam compound. As the planks swell the 5200 will not compress and could cause the plank to buckle and pull the fastening. It happened to me.
