Congratulations!!! She is beautiful. I am very jealous.

When did you find time to make the seats and oars? Can you post some detailed pictures of these? Thanks!

She looks even better in person! How does she row?

Congrats on a great job,

Noah

Oh yeh, the oar:

Very quick and simple to make. I used soft maple (traditional precedent) You taper an 8 foot plank from 1.5 inches at one end to 1/4 inch at the other, cut out the oar profile, use a 45 bit in a router to bevel the edges along the shaft (except in way of the oarlock horns), transition to round about 2/3 of the way to the blade using a spoke shave, then taper the edges of the blade using an angle grinder and clean it up with a cabinet scraper. The grips are rounded over and cone shaped with the skinnier end towards the shaft. An easy afternoon project.

Rows great. Try it out for yourself (on a calmer day)

I would love to have a row at some point. I suppose we could even swap boats for a few minutes. Might be fun...

Yeah, today the lake wasn't a place I wanted to be out on. The highest gust I saw was 32 knots, but it's hard on boats and gear. No sailing for me. Or rowing. Heck, even riding a bike into it is a work out.

Again, great job!

That may be all the photos for now, my computer just crashed the hard drive (this one's a loner) so many photos were lost. Don't worry GROOVY, the seat caning and deck circle details have been backed up and are ready when you are.
