I went to the Hart Nautical Museum at MIT today and drooled over the models and plans some. The 'all metal, under construction' model of Reliance is stunning. The original set of plans for the MIT (Tech) dinghy dated January 27, 1936 with George Owens handwritten notes are framed for viewing. Herreshoff built forty of them by May!! The plans for Defiance, Owens America's Cup sloop (1920 series) are on display also. The builders/owners reduced the sail area http://web.mit.edu/museum/exhibitions/hart.html by over a thousand square feet, and thus she never performed well. Owens gave up big boat yacht design after that.
Spent some time watching the frostbite sailors racing in the harbor http://www.bostonsailingcenter.com/racing/frostbite.asp
and visited this gallery to warm up. They had hot cider. Nice.

Went to Bartley's Burger Cottage for lunch. Their newest, most topical special selection is the Rod Blagojevich Burger. You have to pay for it (including a 30% tip) before it comes to the table :>
