    More Storms for SE Queensland

Just had a look at the weather radar and it looks like there are some severe storms heading for Brisbane/Gold Coast again this afternoon. How's it going over there gang????

Provides access to meteorological images of the 128 km Brisbane (Mt Stapylton) Radar Loop radar of rainfall and wind.

I glad I don't live further North, there is some heavy weather there.

That second link above now shows the lower storm cell turning further south, probably by-passing the GC for norther NSW - Tenterfield, Glen Innes, Tabulam, Mallanganee, Baryulgil and Jackadgery - so you may be in the thick of it Gary

Well Larks, we're off to the pub tonight so we'll watch it from there with the aid of a few schooners.

We've actually got quite a decent monsoonal storm rolling in over Darwin Harbour towards as as I write

I'm looking at the BOM site now , a big one just went through Bris ,the bottom end through Coomera , it probably missed your place .Nothing here today ,just heavy overcast that didn't come to a storm .

Does the Reef block a lot of the potential storm surge for these storms, or are you guys just screwed no matter what? Just curious.

We get cyclones ,very few down this far ,the sea surface temps are usually not quite high enough .What you see on the radar on the BOM site are line squalls , not nice but quick .

Capt Blight, the reef only comes down as far as Gladstone in QLD. If a Cyclone hits the coast here we can expect devastation for coastal development. I live a bit inland am quite sheltered by the hills....though I would probably be looking a bit nervously at the trees.
