Building Molds ?

After you do the lofting for Panels/Molds , Whats the best way to lay out and assemble the molds? I had intended to lay 1 x4s on the lines and use plywood gussets to hold the molds together, is this the right way or am i missing something?

I assembled the molds for my boat on a sheet of 1/2 in OSB and screwed them in place to hold their shape and used pine gussets and glue.
