Centerboard loses to gravity

The board is down and out. I ended up pounding it from above with a section of iron pipe through a hole I drilled in the trunk framework. I ran out of time and had to leave it still caught up for the day. When I came back to it this morning....Voila!,it was out! Tomorrow will find me at the scrap metal yard to see if I can find stock to replace the crusty old board. Stainless if I can get it.

sounds like the centerboard fairies heard the pounding. Also sounds like getting the old one out was the easy part. Any thoughts on how you'll get the new one in?

I think I can rest one corner on the ground and jockey it around until I can get the pin in. The scrap yard didn't have anything suitable. Shall I de-scale and grind the old one or spring for a new piece....decisions are easier to make when money is not involved.
