I am about to reinstall the lovely cast brass (bronze?) oval portlights on my boat after painstakingly polishing them all winter. I was going to use silicon bronze #6 1-1/2" screws but I cannot find any in Canada. Does anybody know where I can source these out, hopefully in Canada.
Dan I buy all my Silicon Br. at Pacific Fasteners in Burnaby. Its a bit of a drive for you. They stock lots and you can order online at www.pacificfasteners.com (http://www.pacificfasteners.com) Buzz

Buzz has it right - Pacific Fasteners is THE place to get stuff - they have it all - stainless, brass, bronze, wood screws, machine screws, ready rod, copper nails. The LOT.
The owner of the company, who is a wonderful guy, once told me that he would make more money by selling the land and investing the money ... "but what would the guys do for work, and where would anyone go for all the things we have here...."
People like that we should cherish.

Incidentally, before starting to lay the teak deck on Fiona II (40') I purchased 5000 1-1/4" #8 countersunk Robertson stainless screws (Robertson don't fall off the driver like Phillips do) for as I recall the ridiculous sum of $135 CDN. Ever been into West Marine to buy "a" screw??????

Further incidentally (its been a long day) I was rootling around on the internet for some hardware for a client here in Ventura, and found the same brass drawer pull at both Garrett Wade in New York ($14.95 US) and Lee Valley Tools, headquartered in Ottawa ($10.00 US) Look at Canadian suppliers. This is exactly the same item, from an English manufacturer, for one-third less.
We are currently buying stuff for Fiona II from marine suppliers in Vancouver who are very happy to ship to CA, and saving tons of money. Just because the money traders have some deal going which makes the $CDN that much less than the $US doesn't necessarily mean that stuff costs more. Check stuff out before you plunk down your money.

Could you tell us the addresses of the suppliers you are using?
