There was a small boat regatta at the old boatyard at Whangateau today. Went out with my mate Tom, just for a look see, and we were promptly told that we were expected to go sailing, and Number 3 was our boat! Tramcar Bay, where the boatyard is located is very shallow, so we waded out to the boat, climbed aboard and set sail. Had a great time too, although the lack of centreboard made going to windward difficult, so we had to wear ship each time we went about. Unfortunately I didn't take a camera, but there is a thread about a previous event on the Classic Yacht Association forum at http://www.classicyacht.org.nz/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=4&thread_id=335
I've stolen a picture of 'our' boat from there: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3249/3012189786_2765c25e13_b.jpg
Great fun, and a good way to spend election day (after voting that is).
