I won't be needing this until spring but I am looking for the best paint to use below the waterline on my boat . Hull is African Mahogonny. If anyone has some suggestions I sure could use a few URL's as well
thanks

I was always concerned about bottom paint and this year I used cheap paint. It worked fine as all the growth I have is on the bootstrap. I guess it depends on where your at but I figure I can buy powdered copper and mix it in if I had any concerns.

I just got finished telling somebody else this in another post. Just go to the local chandlery or boatyard and ask them what is their best-selling bottom paint. Then buy that one. Everybody else will have done the market research for you. Don't bother with the advertisements or the "consumer reports" garbage. Bottom paint varies in composition, as does the flora and fauna of any marine environment. It all depends on the buggers living in your own home waters. Get the paint that performs best in your neck of the woods, as shown by local experience. No need to go hunting for bear with a .22, nor shooting squirel with a .30-06.

One thing to remember when choosing bottom paint for wooden boats is that some paints are inflexible and will therefore chip and flake; often leaving spots of bare wood. Better to pick a sluffing paint that is soft.

Oh, yea... what Jay said. Make sure you ask for the most popular bottom paint used on WOODEN boats. Try putting some of the stuff they make for plastic boats on wooden hulls and you'll have problems.

Squam Lake or the Atlantic? Trailer boat, or in the water all season?

See? If I wait long enough, somebody else will do the heavy lifting and ask the basic questions...
