My sq.meter has the usual problem with broken ribs in the area with most hull curve. One break - about 1/3 of the way up from the keelson... repeats in about the same place for several ribs.
I have laminated 3 new ribs (oak) and plan on adding them just about in the middle of the breakage area - between the existing originals. The original, steamed ribs are otherwise in fine shape. I will not 'sister' the ribs, but put them in the middle, between the existing ribs.
Can anyone think of any reason not to make the repair this way?
