I'm getting layed off in a couple of months. Good news really. We had wanted to move to the coast so now we will. The problem is a 28ft KingsCruiser in the front yard in Raleigh NC which will cost a tidy sum to move. Finances are tight, so I'm offerring her "free" to any one who'll move her. KingsCruisers are carvel (mahogony on oak) Folkboat like sloops, built in Sweden. She has been on the hard for 4yrs. She has no interior apart from a rough plywood mock up. Many ribs are broken, many sistered, though she was floating dry as a bone when we found her. Her mast is broken. She has an almost unused set of sails, new nylon sailtrack. No motor. She needs to go soon.
If I was just a bit closer I would be all over it. Let me think about what it would take to get her. They aren't all that hard to move. Is she on a cradle or jackstands?
I would jump on it, but I'm not sure I could tackle mast building...

She's on jackstands. The mast is box construction.

I might have a lead on a King's Cruser box mast. .

I'm guessing 3000-4000 lbs as is. I believe the ballast keel is ~2000 and the rest of a completed hull another 2000
I might up that 1000 or 2. The Kings Cruiser is slightly larger than the folkboat, and mine has a Iron keel of 2200 lbs, and a racing weight of 4500 or so. I can only imaging that an extra 2ft would up the anti. But then again, it doesn't have an interior, so that may cut down on it a bit.
Anyway, I towed my Folkboat 350 miles with a Chevy 2500 HD no problem. This was on a 16ft flatbed trailer. I was using a wooden cradle that I had.

Is the boat in the same condition as you got her? I ask because some years ago I was had the chance to buy a Kings Cruiser in the Norfolk,VA area. Same thing w/ the ribs, the mast had been broken and the kid that owned her didn't have a clue. What made up my mind for me was the fact that the stem had rot. I ended up getting an 18 foot one design and actually was on the water sailing w/in 2 months... Much better decision. I forget her name; what is your boats name? Always thought they were attractive boats, but wasn't sure about the lack of headroom. I either like em open or with standup room. Course I have grown to like a J105 and it doesn't have headroom!

I'm interested in the boat. I live in Winston and wondering how soon do you have to have her moved? I'm gonna be out of town till the end of May, but I'm certainly interested. I've a place to put her and all. Can you send me a pic or post one?

The closing on the house looks like it will be the end of June, so thats my drop dead date. The boats last owner was an older gentleman who lived in Wrightsville NC. She's in pretty much the same condition as when I got her, apart from drying out. I'll try and get photos to post. She has standing headroom or close to it (I'm 6ft).
