This landmark trial is about to begin in Ontario. A lot here to think about re medical ethics.....the precedents that could be set....moral culpability...

Listened to a bit about it on CBC on my way in to work today. One point was made re this type of action, criminalization, doesn't help prevent aids. An interesting slant.

Also, concerns re how this could impact other medically similar situations, and is this a direction we want to take.

Thought it may be nice to think/interact with one another around something OTHER than GOP/DEM/PALIN yada, yada, yada...

Well, one is responsible for what he/she does. Were I to go and fire a rifle into a crowded football stadium and kill someone, it would be a pretty lame argument that the dead person consented to being in the stadium

We had one of those cases here a while back.

I think the issue is around consent....yes, the women were consensual, but not based on a full disclosure of information.

A first in your neck of the woods? Any recollection how it resolved?

I seem to recall he got sent to gaol - there was a large number of women involved too. I don't think it was a murder charge though.

Reckless endangerment or somesuch?
I'd do a search but I don't want to see all the sad crap it'd drag up.

sounds like murder to me.
If you get drunk and crash your car killing your passenger thats murder.
Doesnt matter that they agreed to be in the car with you.

Poor application of the law.
