Nah, Miss Blushing Epoxy got caught fooling around with Doug Fir, so Mr. Pine has broken off the engagement...

;0 )

Could you be a teensy bit more forthcoming, information-wise? What kind of pine, what sort of epoxy application, what boat?

Pinus Radiata and west system epoxy make us most of the scow in these threads:

While pinus radiata isn't a great timber, there are good and bad pines, Kauri being a member of the pine family. That said, radiata and lots of epoxy seems to be becoming a more acceptable way of building boats, and seems so far to be acceptable. The 'lots of epoxy' is an important part of it though.

I am about to put some light framing in my boat and was going to use pine. I believe it is E White pine. The boat is flint from R Lillistone and it calls for what are basically frame or bulkhead extensions that go up to the sheerline. They are epoxied to the bulkhead and to the side panels up to the sheer.

Arko, fir is a little better but the white pine should be fine. Yellow pine has a lot more oil in it and may not glue as well. Most of the strength in this boat is the ply and your fillets and the glass tape/epoxy. Are you using Okoume ply?

You're way ahead of me on my Flint build. I'm still clearing out the garage.:(

I am using meranti ply. I bought the pine today at Lowes and shaped out the framing pieces and got them epoxied to the bulkheads, holes drilled on the bottom panels and stitched them together. tomorrow I am going to install the three bulkheads on the bottom panels and put on the sides and hopefully level, square and plumb everything and tack it together. Sunday should be fillet and tape day for the inside.
