.....to my Pards who might be wondering what became of me.
I've missed all of you the past weeks while my computer problems persist.
I'm in a motel in Victoria, Texas overnight and logged on their lobby computer.
Spent the last hour reading posts. So sorry to hear about our wounded members. My best to them and their families.
Surely I'll get my computer problems cleared up soon. Looking forward to it.
HughesNet is hell to deal with when you have a problem. I've spent countless hours on the phone to India and I expect to spend countless more.
Best wishes to all!:)

About damn time! There's been almost as many threads wondering about you as there have been about Jamie's whereabouts.:p

You are desperate. Hell, put in a new hard drive and start all over.

Where the hell have you been!:D
Well, you know I'm just no damn good, Mike!:D
And you know I'm ashamed of it too, don't you? Don't you?
I spent the hottest part of the summer cutting a few cords of firewood so I can be warm this coming winter. Shows you how smart I am!
If I don't get squared away with HughesNet pretty soon I'll figure out something else.
What about you?
Last I heard, you were no damn good either and pretty proud of it.
I recall hearing rumors of a motorcycle?

It's the HughesNet modems keep failing.
"Desperate" Yes! Had to drive my wife 300 miles south today for one last visit with an old friend dying here in the hospital. Hope to drive back north tomorrow. Cheers!

Thought you'd said your piece and gone off in search of new horizons...but it was just a pause for dramatic effect.

The computer is good, Deb! It's the server equipment that fails repeatedly. If I lived in town I would have cable, but out here on the prairie it's either Dial-Up or HughesNet.
Hope you and yours are well and happy!
Are you still routing heathens and barbarians out of their comfort zones? Yes? I figgered!;)

Thanks, Tom!
Yes, we're both fine and healthy.
Now that I think of it, one of the last posts I made was just before my wife had a colonoscopy and I think I mentioned it here.
Any good Sam F battles since I've been away?;)

Nah, I barely got started good saying my piece when my equipment went south.
I kinda thought if I was missed at all I would be missed like that boil on one's ass that suddenly went away.:)

Yes. Your last post was about your wife prepping for the next morning's colonoscopy and then..... nothing!
And a hurricane went through your state while you were away!
SammyF is fine. He's ignoring me as usual. :p

Dayum, Mike, that is SLICK!
I know I don't need to tell you to be careful on that Thang.
Wouldn't take you more than one long day to get down here to my part of Texas on it.
At least it's safer than riding a 800 pound horse with a brain the size of a walnut. I gave up both a few years ago, but you're younger than me. Best wishes!

So, Glen, could you answer me a question I've always had about Hughesnet? Is is true that the system only works if you wear kleenex boxes as slippers when attempting to access the system?
Glen Longino

By Jove, you may be onto something there, Milo. I've tried everything else with no luck. I'll let you know when I get back home.

Glad to heat from you Glen. Like Tom, I was starting to get concerned. But a bum modem I, and you, can deal with. Get then by the dozen and keep in touch!

G'day Glen, glad to hear you both are well, if the comm's isn't! Country resident here have equally dodgy net, and even phone access in spite of reams of promises to fix the problems and improve the service. Even regional cities are not well served. Keep well.
Welcome back!

Thanks man!
Everytime it rains here my TV goes off. Now this HughsNet problem has just about turned me against new-fangled gizmos of all kinds.
But I've become too accustomed to benefits of the internet to simply let it go.
I think of half a dozen things a day that I "need" to google but can't.
I'm becoming more ignorant by the day!:(Best to you!
