Oh dear - she's away on holidays.
Scuttlebutt just arrived and there in the For Sale section was an almost finished Payne Yellowtail. It's Mahogany decked, strip planked in Western Red Cedar, with epoxied glass inside and out and with a twin cylinder Penguin putt putt (electric start). Perfect as a tender for Grantala.

I don't want to take delivery for a couple of weeks - otherwise I'll never finish this damn client work....

Cool looking boat.
I got a bit worried when scrolling down the newletter, and came across "Butch". ;)

Nice. Plenty of room for a good looking dinghy on that cabin top, but do you have a boom for launching her?

Why would he need one? I bet the boat don't weigh but 300 pound or so; and after all, he is The Big Fella.

No boom for launching - I'll tow her. Throw her clutch and let the prop freewheel. Short trips only, like we did on the weekend - we probably only did 40-50 miles over 3 days, towing my frozen snot boat, which has heaps more drag than the Yellowtail will.
The drag towing the current boat is quite high - we snapped its anchor rope not long after we left my mooring and had to use a 3/4" tow rope - and yes, the engine is tilted out of the water

Well, I only lifted one end - but it only took one arm. Then again, the engine may change that...

Ian...about throwing the clutch and letting the prop freewheel....
You will increase the drag......with the prop locked in position the drag is equal to the cross sectional area of the blades.....with it freewheeling the drag is the complete area of propeller cross sectional area....

Have to see if you can bump start it( picture in mind of boat being towed, gear lever shakes into gear, tender accelerates into Grants).
