I'm assembling a small rowing wherry using stitch-
and-glue (1/4" marine with fiberglass on both
sides). I will occaisionally mount an electric
trolling motor. I'm wondering if the pressure/
turning of the mounting screws may crack the
fiberglass.
I was wondering if I should try adding a strip
of unglassed wood on-top of the fiberglass,
along the top edge of the transom on the inside
(or outside or both). Or even cover the whole
fiberglassed transom with an unglassed "doorskin"
veneer layer (in/out/both).
Or is there minimal danger of cracking the
fiberglass with the motor mount screws?
