Roughly $80,000 and two to three years of your life! Scrounging materials could make it cheaper.

Thanks, it does seem like a great deal--all that bronze... I guess the only thing I'd like to change is I'm worried how the fir will hold up in the tropics. Bugs, rot resistance and movement would seem to make a boat made from fir more vulnerable.

Fir is used here in various ways on boats with no ill effect. The tropics demand diligent and proactive maintenance, no matter the material.
