Hi All
I am trying to find a supplier of 12# x 2" (6mm by 50mm) silicon bronze screws, for the next section of refastening on my old H28.
It seems they are very scarce in sydney, if anyone knows of a supplier other than Otter, who are out of stock at the moment.
So if anyone has about 200 of them gathering dust, or knows how to get them in Sydney, your help is much appreciated.
Thanks, Ian

I bought about that many from the mob in Rozelle / Balmain. Name escapes me at the moment ....

They were about $2 each - which is why I don't want to remember their name. It is much, much cheaper to airfreight them in from the US..
Try Jamestowndistributors.com

$77US a box - plus freight - make it worthwhile and combine a few things.

Ian,
welcome to the forum mate??? (1st post - join 2004?). If you're going to start slinging around that phrase "H28" you'd better come up with a few photos and some details. There's a bit of interest here on H28's and I for one am keen to hear more about your project
cheers
Greg

Hi Larks & the Bigfella
I have been buying from B&E but they are no more, shut down recently.
I have found after my post that Caporns can get close to them, so I reckon I'll have to use what's on offer.
I have posted a few times over the years and read alot, thanks to all the longtime frequent contributors.

Here's a link to a youtube clip of my H28, one of the oldest so I'm told. She was built in the US at Newport Beach in 1946, sailed over here in the 70's. Still afloat and sailing most weekends, baggy patched sails n'all.
Thanks for your help,
Ian

$2 a screw for a 12x2? Whoa.
I'd figure on paying about 50-70 cents per screw here in Seattle at Stoneway Hardware. Actually, that's a lot of money, too. The other day, I spent $20 on a pair of 3/8x5 silicon bronze lag bolts. Aargh.
When I've had unusual bronze needs, I've had decent luck ordering from CC Fasteners (http://www.ccfast.com/index.html).
edited to add - CWB in Seattle has an H-28 ketch for sail, if anyone's looking.

Here are some online suppliers.
I guess we are lucky In the Pacific Northwest. Lots of chandlers. In port Townsend We have a large working Yard specializing in wood boats. So easy access to fasteners. However some goods require a trip to one of the Near bye cities. A 4 hr $50.00 commute.

Webby/Ian,
If you haven't found a supplier yet, I have a bloke here in Tassie who specialises in Silicon Bronze screws at pretty good prices. If you are interested, send me an email at andrew@denmanmarine.com.au.
