16 ft wright built K boat #123 going in the water this weekend. Have a 5/16" thick plate steel swing keel112 lb that looks like it has a 7/16 or 1/2 inch hole. Need to make a pivot pin about 4" long. Grade 8 or mild steel or ??? Is there something more sophisticated required? Looks like you put the pin through and drop them both down the slot to keep the pin in place.
Second, the boom has a brass eyeloop with about a 1/2" hole with the mast having a similar eyeloop both horizontal. I am using a small shackle to make the pivot but am curious if I am missing a peice???
