Peterbourgh

Ladies and Gents. Need your help and assistance.
I am looking to purchase a 1950'ish Perterbourgh, a 16 footer. She has been in a barn (aren't they all) for the last 25 years. Very nice looking boat; windshield, two bench seats, rear seats, all hardware included.
One possible drawback; her hull has fiberglass instead of being finished 'bright' like I'm used to seeing. However, some people that I have talked to say that it has probably glassed at the factory when it was built.
Can't find anything to prove or disprove this.

And by the way; it is love at first sight!!!

Naaaah... Everybody fibreglassed them on the bottom because they were cedar strip and drysailed. They leaked when you put them in for the saturday morning fishing trip. A great boat, and relatively easy to restore. The 16 foot with a old Evinrude 18 worked like a charm. Nothing wrong with the fibreglass if you want a working boat IMOOP...

In the late 50’s Peterborough boats started to build wood boats with fiberglass. They were a molded plywood. Wide strips placed on the diagonal with a ply deck. Some were painted others were finished bright. They both look good. As long as the fiberglas in intack and the wood stayes dry the boat will continue to go a long time.
