In looking over the plans I bought from John Welsford, I realized 'would be best done with one of these:

good ole' starrett to the rescue.....
in my line of work, these days you have to be ready to jump back and forth between inch/foot, metric and engineering at any time.
i just got done with a bridge job where the horizontal distances were in inch/foot, the elevations were all engineering and the fitments for the bridges were fabricated in (and the shop drawings for them) were given in metric.....fun!
