...It's SARABANDE.

I need to move her before the end of the month or the marina owner will cut her up for firewood.

I am planning on moving her to a farm in West Glenburn, ME. I would like to lay down a gravel bed and place railroad ties down to support the keel. She weighs 13,000#, is 32' long, and 9' wide.

Has anyone had a dilemma such as this one?

Ralph.....My experience is with smaller,trailerable boats so I'm not much help. I've followed your experiences with this boat and can only guess how much frustration you're feeling. I'm sure someone here has the experience you seek,so I'll bump this to the top in the hopes that someone will jump in here and give you some good advise like they always do. smile.gif
Hang in there Ralph,where there's a will, there's a way.
Peace---> Kevin in Ohio

Whats the dilemma? If you dont have time to lay the gravel, put down the railroad ties a bit higher than originally intended and shovel the gravel in later. You live in Maine, I've never been there but know it as one of the 'boatier' states in the USA so there will be a small trucking company around somewhere with the equipment for, and experience in handling boats who will be able to move her.
If the problem is money, it's better you deal with the financial reality now rather than after you have spent that which you can ill afford.
I have had a similar problem in getting somewhere to put my trimaran as no cradle was available. Nothing happened until I became proactive and made it happen. I hope you take this peptalk in the spirit it was intended and get moving. The worst part is thinking about it.
Good luck

Peace---> Kevin in OhioThanks for the kind words, but I secretly am loving the challenge.

I have the gravel delivery lined up, and a great gentleman by the name of Tom Bell over at The Bangor & Aroostook RR office has offered a half-dozen older RR ties for free.
So all I have to do is get a hydraulic trailer into Winterport Marina before the last day of this month (June).

Just this minute, I've received a call from Oceanhouse; Paul there can't get to it until after the 4th of July.

I am proud to tell all that Sarabande has been rescued and is sitting patiently next to my pfriend's barn in West Glenburn, Maine. :D
This is the 32' Ketch,(I think it's a ketch) that was built in 1941 by Bud MacIntosh. Paul Brayton of Brooklin, ME., moved her yesterday.
Haven't heard a word from the previous owner. :confused:
This 'ol gal is in really bad shape, but I will save the details for another post. Tomorrow, I plan to get a spread of photos of her, inside and out.
