My boatwrights called me a couple of days ago to say that they were finished with 'Rune'. Today I drove over, checkbook in hand, to take a look and to pay my bill. Man. These guys do a good job. She looks awesome.
The guys at Diversified Marine (Tom and Donnie) did the following:
all new floor timbers
replaced many frames, including all of the load bearing frames for the rig
refastened everything around the mast step and the supports for the shrouds
installed a new coaming board on the port side (we did the starboard side last year)
'glassed and refinished the coach roof
sealed off the keelson and put four coats of paint in the bilge
installed new floors where needed and refastened all of the floors
did a complete refinish of the hull
Tom did almost all of that while Donnie was in China with the Olympic team, though Donnie is the maestro of the spray gun and did the exterior hull work. I am very pleased, and just wish that I didn't have to wait until next June to knock heads with other Dragons. Oh well, that'll give me time to finish the rigging (including a new boom) and get her tuned up properly.
On the way out of the shop I left the guys my ancient Teel Finn. Now maybe I won't win the 'ugly boat' contest at my next Finn event. Sure wish I knew how to use a camera.
