Dunc', remind me when I see you next weekend to give you something appropriate to take along to make up for not being there. I'm heading south that weekend but unfortunately not that far with mum flying north from Vic' to visit.
I've no doubt it will be a great weekend though
    cheers

                    Re: Oz Politics WBF EBS

Sounds great guys- but I am pretty sure I could not make it.
Money- probably biggest issue- late-rent, bills out the whazoo, boat insurance due, etc, etc... (now that I am not studying) I am picking up work when I can and also beginning to apply for propper jobs () ... just cannot commit to any time off right now.
Also, as soon as the weather gets a bit better, and we can gather some spare funds, we have to haul Altair for some fresh paint and other works. She is long over-due now.
Maybe next time, or maybe even Christmas time.

Ian, that sounds very pricey for plating... I guess there must be a hell of a lot of work for them to do on it? I have found a great old plating shop in Melbourne- a little ancient auto-plating factory in trendy Fitzroy, every bit of metal in the place is covered a full growth of corrosion and bubbling paint from the years of 'stuff' in the air, the main worker that comes out the front is about four foot wide at the shoulders and covered in tats, the other guy is about 80 and looks like he walked (very slowly) out of a history book... They don't do any of the fancy new platings (black chrome, etc) just chrome and nickle. I got a few things done for my BJ42, was very very affordable ($80). Their quote for another bigger job was a bit more ($150-ish) because of the significant work coating in copper first to get it all smooth for the chrome. Other platers (the bigger fancier set ups) quoted ball park figures over the phone at least twice as high, possibly a lot more.
Might be worth shopping around a bit more?
One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly.

I'll be there when you finally set a date.
Just about to start another project so I'll be kinda busy for a while.
Once you know the date I'll be in it.

I've been slack and sitting back waiting on an outcome here but for polling purposes: I'm out 27-28 Sep' and Christmas, (also 11-12 Oct). Other than that my fate (read "contract in Darwin") is in the lap of the powers that be (read "Defence Budget cuts") so I'll be aiming to wangle a trip to tie in with whatever you come up with if I'm still up here.

Back home now! So we are commuting the date then... I'm pretty easy as long as it's a weekend and I don't have to drop off or pick up Liesl from the airport, but we can work around dates if need be. I won't be driving down as I can't use the work ute for anything that will take it away from the office and my HQ is no longer registered. It would use WAY too much petrol and be TOO much of cop bait for my liking! I'm sure we could work something out though. Train from Casino?? Civilised and all???

PLease Explain Are we trying to get together in Sydney or some other place on a certain weekend? Please work out when where and how. Other people have committments and will have to travel. I will work in with just about any arrangement. All I have to do is make sure Sue has the required backup respite care in place. I would be stoked to meet the forum members OZ style. Bring it on.
