Self-draining shelf

Any ideas on how to construct and install a "self-draining shelf" on a 19' open bow aluminum boat. I want to attach a forward shelter/dodger/spray hood.

I am having a hard time visualizing a shelf for this application unless it's to hold the beer.

How about creating a verticle coaming around the area in the front of the boat where you want the spray hood attached? It could be made of aluminum and then snaps installed on the outside so the canvas would drain to the gunnel.

The above is an attempt to show an angle (shown as a 7 ) bolted under the gunnel, the I is really one piece of alum bolted to the angle and extending above the _ which represents the gunnel. Atach the snaps on the outside.

Ohh for a lectronic etch a shetch or a cocktail napkin...
