What would be the proper way to mount the wood rubrail on a painted hull? The rail is already fitted up and taken off to paint the hull. Should I use bedding compound and seal the back of the bare wood rail with something before screwing it back on, or should I have epoxied it before I painted? I also have the trim aroung the cabin to tend with also. I have options open on this, as I havent faired or painted this yet.
Thanks,
Danny

Seal the back of the rub rail, varnish, Petit 120, whatever. If the rub rail is of sufficient dimension, it should be hollowed out a bit with a rounded plane before sealing. Bed with Dolphinite of appropriate color.

Sounds like a plan. I was trying to keep it easy to repair and touch up. I didnt want to glue it permanent. I have 2 projects going. a rebuild and a new Penobscot 17. Both are firsts for me.
