Having managed to re-install the transom without undue mishap, I may get to the point of needing new oarlocks. The old ones must have been some sort of folding kind and the tops have snapped off. In the picture, the lock is upside down and broken of piece is hanging down. Has anybody seen this sort of creature and do they have any idea of where to get a couple of pairs?

The boat presently is set up for one pair of oars but I plan in putting in an extra set.

I believe that they are called "Davis oarlocks" and were frequnetly mentioned by John Garner in his books - he liked them becasue they are always attached and cannot be stolen.

Duckworks Boat Builder's Supply used to have them but I see from the link that they are temporarily out of stock http://www.duckworksbbs.com/hardware/oarlocks/sd580210/index.htm

Thanks for the link, BrianY. They are certainly close but mine are angle mounted meaning the attach at the top and the sides. I see some nice bronze angle mounted jobies on the site which I will likely go with.

FWIW - here are some galvanized angle mount ones that look to be a close match to what you have:

(bronze IS nicer, though......)

Here's a thread on Davis Oarlocks -- just ignore the stu-stu-stutter that the Forum experienced at the time...

I like dealing with either Chuck at Duckworks or Hamilton - finestkind!
