Saturday, August 23rd - Pentwater Yacht Club (http://news.greatlakesboating.com/2008/08/pentwater-yacht-club-hosts-12th-annual.html)
Sunday, August 24th - Holland Museum (http://holland.org/events/252-vintage-holland-boat-show)(on the hard)
I'll be camping on the beach in Grand Haven all weekend. Does anyone know if the Pentwater show would be worth the drive up (50 miles)?

Pentwater is a nice show. Lots of mahogany in the water and a large group of homebuilt small wooden craft on the lawn. I'll be there with my sharpie on the lawn. Will be my 5th year with a boat to show. Probably over 50 boats in all catagories. Only a couple of vendors so nothing much for sale besides many of the boats.
damn...Im gonna be 2 days late :)
I cant believe how Pwater has grown in the last 20yrs. Actually I cant believe how much Holland and Grand Haven have either...

It was a damp day in Pentwater, but we enjoyed it anyway!

And a couple of more!
There were a lot of rain squalls so there was an ebb and flow of people into and out of the rain. Even with the rain, it was actually a pretty enjoyable day!

Paul,
Thanks for the pictures. I'm the fat guy in the tilley hat and orange shirt in the first picture. My boat the Mary E is immediately behind me and another forumite, Ed Strong built the Penobscot 14 immediately in front of me. You did a good of catching the essence of the show. Interesting that there was a significant reduction of the in water "mahogany row" boats this year but lots more homebuilts on the lawn.

Well its good to meet you Ron and nice boat too! We did notice that the in-the-water group was significantly smaller. It seems like they are usually packed in like sardines. It was nice to see all of the others on the lawn where you can really peek at them.
