Tim (S/V Lorelei) came over this morning and hooked the Oliver up. It's still got a few issues. It hasn't been out on the town in 44 years or so, and it wants to dance, but it runs fine, cuts the rug like a champ, and looks stunning! I figure a good dose of fresh oil on the bearings, a decent bath with scented oils and candles, and maybe a few medallions or prime Oak, and she'll be all set!
Thank you a quadzillion times Tim! I owe you a stupid thing for wasting your day with me and miss Olivetti!
Thank you to Mark (Tyler Durden) and Paul Giroaurd (or however you spell yer name! ;) ) and all the rest of you who offered advice on how not to electrocute myself!
Thank you to Mike (FIGGY) for getting Miss Olivetti here in the first place! With out you sir, none of this would have been possible!
NOW.... Who want's a piece of wood cut?..... :D

Poor Tim showed up at around 9AM We both figured a couple hours..... When I finally kicked him out the door after a self congratulatory beer it was closing in on 3PM..... Nothing's as simple as it looks is it?

Doug, Your welcome. Always lots of fun playing with electricity and old iron (arn).
Paul, yes. We piggybacked the planer onto the new 40 Amp breaker with the saw. No free slots on the board unless we eliminated useless stuff like the shop lights or sumthin.

That saw is simpley not safe. There is unguarded belting in plain view. There are deptarment of CYA people with insurance companys, countys, NGOs and the like lurking in the bushes as we speak to have you shut down buddy!
But, your a good man Lefty. I'll take it off your hands, no charge. Just let me know when its handy and I'll come over and pick it up. Can I have the wiring and the 40 amp breaker too? :o

I'm building a cat proof belt guard this week.... After I make the idler tension wheelie dealie.... The start up squeal sounds like something from "DELIVERANCE".....

That table tilt wheel has serious potential..... I've never had a saw that had anything other than "loosen, guage, tighten, and go" table tilt before.... In theory, if I have a nimble minded assistant, I could do rolling bevels....

I'm thinking the saw would resaw way more depth than would ever be practical, but just for fun how wide of planks do you think you could make Lefty?

How do you plan to load the cats into it?
Pictures?

Ah, rolling bevels. I remember sitting on the shop floor and cranking while Tom Beaton called out the bevel degrees when getting out Sneakbox frames. Older machine than Doug's but the same basic gearing. Took a few showers to remove all the sawdust.

Salty.... On the Oliver I'm guessing 10".... The Rockwell can do 12" in White Oak with out breathing hard.
Jim.... I figure a simple funnel hopper should feed smaller cats one at a time just fine....:D
Russ.... That's why I need a "nimble minded assistant" :D
