Help can I save this 1/2 tube of expensive stuff..I removed the plastic tube and covered the end with duct tape and put it in the fridge...I want to use the rest in 3 days...what do you think?

I think you'll be fine. My own practice, if the hole in the tube end isn't too large, is to use a screw the length of the tube end, like maybe 3", to seal it up, then into the fridge. I don't know if the fridge really makes a difference with polysulfides, but the freezer sure works for epoxies. The screw seals the hole and also makes it possible to get the thing out. I've pulled the ends off of a couple of tubes of 5200 trying to pull nails out of them!

I used the screw as Bob suggested, stuffed it inside a zip lok bag and toss it in the tool box......(well....lessee....I have 14 tubes, half used that I can't get the screws outta......maybe I'll rethink it..............just kidding)

squeeze your tube so that there is no air space left at the tip. Then tape over the finger you've cut off from one of your latex or vinyl gloves. Wtihout the air it won't cure and should last for a few weeks.

For up tpo a week i just screw the cap back on (small tubes) and it's fine when I go back for it, though I may have to push a nail or drywall screw down through the nozzle to free up a passage.
Of course I only use 5200, so cannot vouch for the the inferior stuff that is supposedly "easier to remove"

I use my vacuum bagger system designed for meat ; food; vegetables etc. Put the tube with nail or screw in end; and insert in bag. suck out the air and you should be good. I've used this process over the winter andlonger and the material seems fine. 3M 4200; Sikaflex; Boat life etc Try it you'll like it.

These work very well. A bit strange looking but if you can overlook that they are quite useful for anything in a tube.
