Hi, maybe this is one of those crazy ideas, but can stems, frames, etc. be epoxy laminated from cedar or do they have to follow the hardwood tradition? I am looking at building Kurylko's Alaska whitehall.
Thanks you guys!

It will take a lot of bumps...I would go with something harder.....make more laminations....thinner....

Stems don't have to be hardwood. I did a Davis boat (aka Alaska peapod I think) with a AYC stem...I can tell you that it is no fun chopping the rabbet.
By the way...Louie Wagner...one of the Davis family said that they invented a router set-up to cut the rabbet. The head of the family was overjoyed...doing the rabbet is one of the most tedious parts of boatbuilding.
