It's not much of a photo, ignore the telephone poles, but it's nice to see it there for the first time in a lot of years. Making some progress. Too late I turned off the date thing on the camera.

Looks awesome (not a word I use lightly).

That's quite a mast dolly they have there.

Are you going to fly the clot this weekend?

That is fantastic. She looks so beautiful, Rich.

The mast dollies are welded together surplus bomb carts. I still have running backstays to install, and a half dozen other small things to do. Should be out next weekend.

Fabulous! My boat's been out of commission since '91 also so I think I have some idea how great that must feel.

Thirty Square Meter? Thank you for the priveledge of seeing a truly extrordinary boat! And equally extrordinary work!

Since Rich seems to be sailing, it's a 22 square metre, and he keeps it in Michigan. I don't know how close to Port Huron Rich lives, but there is the only real fleet of square metre boats in North America at the Port Huron yacht club. There is also a small fleet of 6mR's at this same club and they race together.'

It has long been one of my goals to get up to Port Huron and Sarnia and see the square metre boats. A ride would be even better :). I have a calender on my office wall of photos of the 30 squares taken during races at PHYC. They are indeed, beautiful boats.

There is another 22 square for sale in this month's WBM. I think that they are asking around $45K US.

I'm about thirty miles west of Port Huron. This boat is down on the Detroit River, across from Belle Isle. We might even make it up there this summer.

I don't think Sonja will approach the speed of the 30mē Viking from Sarnia. Looks fast but I have old sails.

1991. I had no idea it had been so long. I still have a chance.

Oh, and totally gorgeous.

Hey Rich, is there a sister ship to Sonja on Casco Bay? We crossed tacks yesterday with a lookalike. :)

You must be so stoked.

There's a guy named Ted Lameyer from Castine who owned a 22mē with the sail designation S-203 that was a near copy of Sonja. I met him five years ago and it's possible that he's had time to either do the work or have it done. It was in tough shape when I saw it but still a beautiful boat.

I wish I had taken a picture. Oh, well, I'll just have to keep a lookout for her and have the camera always at the ready.
