I am at my wit's end to find some brass "trigger-snap" (seeing-eye) clips from any source.

McMaster (pg 1408 (http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/114/1408)) has the clips but not in brass... Worst Marine searches produced nothing for me other than a few "flag-clip" (dog-lead) type clips which were mostly brass plated over zinc.

Anyone have a line on these from anywhere?

A quick search turned up this http://greenboatstuff.com/seadogbrtrsn.html . Does that help?

The hardware store down the street has 'em.... Which variety are you looking for? The McMaster-Carr page had 4 different snap hooks on it.
Could be reason enough to come up for polo....:D

That page shows they have them in bronze for a fair price. Won't that do?

Here's the only reference I can find, but the website calls two different clips by the same name -

Could he be talking about this design?

Nup. Customer wants brass... specifically did not want bronze (I dunno why) and "da cuzzomur iz allez wright".

Ordered enuf to do this job from that greenboatstuff... price was OK, even tho I had to read thru the "preachies" to get to the info I needed.

Lefty, next time you're down there, grab a couple and send 'em to me for comparison.

Thanks to ALL for your help on this... I was goin' nutsier than usual!

Give him the bronze one and let him know that it's "SuperBrass." That you were able at great expense and difficulties to obtain a few of these very rare items that were made by taking all the impurities llike zinc and adding in a certain amount of the stronger metal, tin, prior to casting.

It won't take quite as good a polish but it's much much stronger and wear-resistant.

Even bettah, tell them they are made of "Naval Brass"...you'd be close to correct.

I have never been able to figure out the brass /bronze naming system. This is the most detailed copper alloy web page I have been able to find.

That's what I'd do. Besides, if he's asking for brass instead of bronze chances are good he doesn't know the difference anyway.
