The gizmos for attaching the sail to a mast hoop. Does anyone know who actually makes these or have a source for these that's a bit less spendy than the ones at Beetle and Pert Lowell?

I don't know who actually manufactures them, but they seem to be damned expensive from all the common sources.

All it takes is about 12 inches of light line per hoop, no need for any expensive bronze fittings.

The reason people like these is that it is quick and easy to get the sail off. The other way to do it is to not use hoops but something like robands with a few parrel beads. Put them on as a series of short ones on the diagonal and you can untie them individually faster than a lace line.

Custom bronze in small quantities is expensive. It will last longer than you will.

A doubled loop of line, with a toggle on one end and a loop on the other, tied to the sail in the center. Parrel beads and spacing knots in the doubled line.

.
As Tom says....

Or alternatively, masthoops that themselves come away, allowing the sail with ring to be removed, and that can then be either snapped back on or stored away below --

Roger I have some male connectors, if you are forced to use pert lowell you can order just the female side..

Also I have a very rough main for the SS if you want to check it out.

PS

do you plan on racing the 27th

Hi Larry,

Thanks for the sail offer but I've been given a usable set to use on #96. I might take you up on the hdwe. offer though.

I can't race on the 27th as I have to attend a wedding.
